Laura Krauthausen and Yasar Spörndli are the faces behind Spörndlikrauthausen, and are the German finalists in the H&M Design Award 2012. They are both 28 years old, and have recently graduated from Weissensee Kunsthochschule in Berlin.

A: The videos by the artist Pipilotti Rist.

A: Meir Shalev, The loves of Judith.

A: Less is more.
Q: What’s your favorite scent?
A: Margiela Untitled.
Q: Favorite thing to draw while talking on the phone?
A: Circles.

A: Yellow.
Q: Favorite material to work with?
A: Silk.

Q: Describe the first item you designed.
A: A multifunctional dress.
Q: Favorite fashion era, and why?
A: 1970’s flower power.

A: Proenza Schouler.

A: Madleine Vionnet.

A: Prince.
Q: What’s your dream, career wise?
A: Our dream is to have our own fashion label.

A: A doctor.
Q: What lies ahead for students trying to make it in fashion today, compared to 10 or 20 years ago?
A: A bigger market but also more competition.
